Personal Possessions - Do you know what's covered
As the range of 'must have' personal possessions - from iPods to Blackberries and digital cameras to sunglasses - is constantly growing it's becoming even more important to have treasured belongings insured.
That's why ensuring that your customers have adequate Personal Possessions cover in place to give them added protection, especially outside their homes, is vital.
Unfortunately many of us have been mugged or pick pocketed, or know someone who has, and it's often only when you start listing what was taken that you realise the value of what you carry around with you every day.
We've lifted just one example from The Times newspaper which ran an article on 18 February this year entitled 'Take cover against rising street crime.'
It stated: "Eleanor Slack never leaves the house without her two mobile phones, iPod, make-up bag, credit and debit cards, driving licence, tube ticket, cash, house keys, leather gloves and umbrella and these are just the bare essentials. Occasionally the list will also include a digital camera. The total value of these items is about £500."
The Times article also confirms that with street crime on the rise, insuring personal possessions has never been more important.
Our personal possessions option can be an ideal conversation opener with your client which will often lead to you generating more business and your client feeling secure and well advised.
The list of items covered under personal possessions cover is extensive. It includes such items as jewellery, baggage timekeeping and photographic equipment and spectacles.
Paymentshield has updated the Inertia quotation system and improved the quote field 'Optional Personal Possessions.' This will show a drop down list of values from £500 to £10,000 and up to £15,000 for Contents Extra.
You can also free key in an amount for your customers if one of the pre-determined amounts are not suitable.
